The ¶¶Òô´ó¹Ï Golden Scope


The Golden Scope Championship is a fun and exciting game in which 1st and 2nd year fellows in-training compete for honor and prizes!

2024: University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), University of New Mexico, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics


2023: University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, John Hopkins University Hospital and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center


2022: Augusta University, Mayo Clinic and University of Iowa


2021: Baylor College of Medicine, University of Buffalo and Emory University

Who’s Qualified to Participate

All United States and International GI Fellowship programs are eligible to participate. Only one team per GI Fellowship program will be accepted.

A team will comprise of two or three individuals from your GI program who did not participate in a previous Golden Scope competition. The team must consist of current 1st and 2nd year GI fellows at the time of registration. One of the team members must be designated as “Team Captain”.

Competition Timeline

Apr '25

April 3, 2025 (9:00AM CST) – April 14, 2025 (3:00PM CST) - Round One (Virtual):
The first round of the competition consists of a series of multiple-choice questions, using a Trivia format. Players will respond to various case study questions, images and videos via an online session. Once the game is started by a team (estimated 45 minutes), they must complete it in one sitting, with responses being provided by your team-designated GI Fellow team captain. Points are awarded based upon correct responses and the amount of time to complete each question.

May '25

May 4, 2025 - Announcement of Top 12 Winning Teams to Advance to Semi-Finals (via Social Media Platforms):
Based upon Round One virtual scores, the Top 10 teams will be selected from participants within the United States and Canada along with the Top 2 teams from international locations.

Sep '25

September 19-20, 2025 (Live at ¶¶Òô´ó¹Ï IT&T in Downers Grove, IL) – SEMI-FINALS & CHAMPIONSHIP:
The top twelve teams will come together at ¶¶Òô´ó¹Ï’s IT&T Center in Downers Grove, IL for an in-person semi-final competitive round. Semi-finals will include both game play and hands-on challenges. All team members will be able to participate in ¶¶Òô´ó¹Ï’s Senior Fellows Program on Saturday, September 20, 2025-Sunday, September 21, 2025. The Final Championship of the top three teams will be determined and announced at a reception on Friday evening. The Final three teams will compete in a live Final Championship Jeopardy style format on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Semi-Final Prize

All twelve teams and their training director will receive full access to GI Leap for a 12-month period in recognition of their accomplishment of making it to the Semi-Final stage of the competition. 

All twelve teams will have a travel stipend to participate which will cover airfare and transportation as well as 2 nights at the Westin Chicago Lombard. 

 

Grand Prize

Final three winning teams will receive a cash prize that goes to the training director to distribute how they desire.

1st Place Winner: $5,000
2nd Place Winner: $2,500
3rd Place Winner: $1,250
